The Cancer Institute, inspired by the vision of H.H. Dr. Swami Rama, will address all aspects of cancer control such as prevention, early detection, and state of the art treatment facilities supported by research and education. Alternative medicine and holistic principles as taught by Swami Rama will be included in the Cancer Institute.

The mission of the Cancer Institute is to control cancer in Uttaranchal, and the nation, through approaches which address the whole being: physical, mental, social, and spiritual.

It is estimated that the population of Uttaranchal alone has more than 6,000 new cancer cases per year. The majority remain undiagnosed and die without any cancer specific treatment. Patients from remote hilly regions have to travel long distances to reach cancer centers in adjacent states and may have to wait a long time to get treatment. Swamiji's vision for HIHT was to provide health services to the people in this remote part of India and this continues that vision.

We are appealing to all of our well wishers and supporters to contribute to this worthy project. The Board of Directors of the Swami Rama Foundation have voted to make the Cancer Institute at HIHT a fundraising priority for 2006 and donations should be made directly to the Swami Rama Foundation of the USA. The Swami Rama Foundation is a US tax exempt organization and all donations made to the SRF are tax deductible. Please mail your donations in the US to:
