Swami Rama’s first and last project:

Dr. Swami Rama, after demonstrating his scientific experiments in USA, set up his first teaching center at Glenview, Illinois 50 years back. This seed flowered into his full fledged Institute @ the Pocono mountains in Pennsylvania. His most popular book “Living with Himalayan Masters” provided him the much needed funds to establish a premier medical city @ the foothills of Himalayas.

His last project, the Himalayan Institute Hospital Trust’s Rural Development Institute (RDI) celebrates its 35th Founder’s Day this month. The commitment to serve the mountain regions continues in the works started by Sri Swami Rama. A trained homeopath, Swami Rama emphasized health and wellbeing as a way to accomplishing the purpose of life. He trained us to serve the vulnerable populations while working with our own vulnerabilities.

His was a global mission – to serve the unserved worldwide. While that vision remains, our feet are firmly planted on the soil where this Institute – the Himalayan Institute Hospital Trust, acts as the epicenter of his works.

At the work front, RDI continues to serve in all its domain areas – health, water, education, skills and livelihoods – with the motto of Love Serve Remember.

This being the birth centenary year of Swami Rama, we brought out a diary with photographs and quotes of various facets of Swami Rama. Secondly a self-awareness journal with his quotes (108 pages) along with a logo depicting 100 years. These were widely disseminated within India and outside. Workshops on the teachings were conducted for those from rural areas (including women, youth and the elderly).
